Once you have got the 2nd and 3rd fingers to where they should be, you can add the 1st finger for the full G major open chord. Play one string at a time to make sure it sounds clear, then when you are happy with that strum all six strings.

E major

This chord is not as much of a stretch as C or G major and isn’t quite as compact as A major. The tricky issue for this chord can be the angle of the 1st finger on the 1st fret of the G string due to how it has to tuck behind the 2nd and 3rd fingers.

A staged approach would be to fret the 1st finger initially, this way you can make sure the right part of its finger tip pushes down for a clear note. Then reach the 2nd and 3rd fingers to where they go (as opposed to fretting the 2nd and 3rd fingers first while trying to tuck the 1st finger behind them). Play one string at a time to make sure all the notes are clear then strum all six strings.
